Andrew Murray Classic FREE on Kindle

Andrew Murray's classic, The Master's Indwelling, is free on Kindle.

Here's Amazon's description of the book -- you'll see why it enticed me, and I think you'll appreciate it as well.

You're living in Christ.

You've accepted Him as Savior and you're doing everything in your power to live the good Christian life. You go to church, you tithe, you read your Bible, you pray. You're doing all the things a Christian should do.

You're living in Christ. But is He living in you?

Has he swept and cleared out every cobweb in your life? Or are you tightly gripping the broom yourself? Does His spirit motivate your every thought and action? Or is your Christian walk just a performance, an act that masks the emptiness inside?

He's called us to more than a game of charades. He's invited us to taste the truly Christ–filled life.

You're already in Christ; now let Him be in you. It's time for The Master's Indwelling.

Blog Talk Radio - New Show for Christian Moms

My friend and marketing buddy Cheryl Moeller gives this new info on a new podcast she's doing weekly--a great idea for many authors of practical books like Cheryl's:

Mother to Mother w/ Cheryl Moeller and Co-host Lisa Jungheim

Motherhood is not easy and we sure don't want to go it alone. We need each other and that's why Lisa and I have teamed together to be your cheerleader, your sister, and your friend.

Our show is geared to make you laugh, inspire you from God's Word, share with you whatever mothering advice we might have picked up along the way, and motivate you to share more family meals with our easy method of making dinner with two crockpots.

Here's what we're going to do for the giveaway:

Prepare for Easter with Free eBook

I'm reading this classic book, now on eBooks as part of preparing my heart for Easter. It's called The Trial and Death of Jesus Christ: A Devotional History of our Lord's Passion. Here's the link on Kindle:

It was written in 1894 in Glasgow by James Stalker, who gives his purpose in the introduction:

The scenes of the Passion ought, indeed, to stir the depths of the heart; but this purpose is best attained, not by the narrator displaying his own emotions, but, as is shown in the incomparable model of the Gospels, by the faithful exhibition of the facts themselves.
The language may be a little less contemporary than some, but this is an engaging and thought-provoking telling of the old, old story of Christ's death on our behalf.

Oh, and did I mention it's a free ebook?

Bible Commentary on Kindle

You can get most of Alexander MacLaren's classic, fabulous Expositions of Holy Scripture series as free downloads on Kindle. They're not indexed nearly as well as they'd be with Bible software, but the price is definitely right! Here's a link to the list of freebies -- most books of the Bible are covered if you download them all:

Promise Book for Kindle

I downloaded God's Answers to Life's Questions last week, and it's still free on Kindle. It's essentially a Bible promise book. Pick your topic, and read individual verses that address that topic. Nice to have on hand for those two-minute reading opportunities: -- and whenever your writing calls for a quick biblical insight to ground it in truth.

Equal Time ...

I should tell you that another truly fine translation -- both understandable and accurate -- is the HCSB. And thanks to Broadman & Holman, it's also free on Kindle. Such a deal!

Too Good to Pass Up!

Thanks to Crossway, the ESV Bible is a free download for Kindle. You've got to read this version. Great, modern, true-to-the-original languages. Excellent! It's my go-to translation. Download it here:

Something to Give

Something to Give: Writing Out of a Vibrant Relationship with Christ
Julie-Allyson Ieron

When asked to prepare a two-sentence purpose statement, my newest Guild apprentice (like many before her) mentioned a desire to glorify God and lead others to Him. A worthy goal—similar to my writing purpose statement: to pursue those writing projects the Lord places before me, writing in His strength and seeking His purposes through each piece.

Sounds pious, doesn’t it? But rereading my goal statement, I am ashamed of how often I stray from its noble path into writing bland words out of a lukewarm commitment to Christ. I keep my quiet time with God. But in some seasons, when my heart isn’t in it, what I write is less worthy of the label Christian writing—because it isn’t authentic and it isn’t empowered by God’s Spirit.

I have something of eternal value to offer readers only when my relationship with Christ is vibrant and growing—when I seek Him ahead of opening a blank Word document.

In my reverie, I turned to a Scripture passage I’ve read often; today I read it with new eyes. The context is Paul’s closing words to the Ephesian believers (Eph. 6:11-19).  He begins with the importance of putting on the whole armor of God.

I could draw many applications to the Spirit-empowered writing life from the pieces of armor. For example, when we have content of eternal value to communicate, the enemy will succeed in thwarting our efforts unless we use the resources God’s Spirit supplies for our battle-worthiness.  Or, I could note that the Word of God is a mighty sword—using it wisely (in our writing and speaking) is our only sure-fire weapon in recapturing hearts and minds for Christ. Certainly, each piece of armor can equip us to have something to give.

But today I was drawn to Paul’s request: “Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel” (v. 19, NIV). Exchange “open my mouth” for “open my word processor,” and we have a prayer for our writing lives. If even the great apostle (after he had donned the armor) needed others to hold him up in prayer for opportunity, words, and courage to speak (or write), how much more do we need the same?

How can we be sure to have something real and hope-filled to give our readers? By praying—and enlisting our friends and colleagues to pray with us—that our Father will equip us to make His kingdom known fearlessly—every time we get down to the work of a Christian writer.

Dave Fessenden is our first new follower. I know his blog will be useful to you. I highly recommend:

Hello! We're glad you're visiting us!

If you're here, you're probably interested in writing your story of faith and getting it into readers' hands. We want to help you do that. We'll be posting comments, tips, and updates about what's being published in the Christian market and ideas on how you can see your work in print or e-print.

This blog will be most useful to everyone if we all both share our work and celebrate each other's work.

We've noticed that several sites focus on Christian fiction, but not many feature Christian Living books and news. So, that'll be our main niche. When we know of CL titles being offered free on Kindle, we'll let you know. If your CL title is releasing in print or e-formats, let us know and we'll list the links. If you're a writer and want to trade guest blog updates with us, we'll look forward to that privilege.

We want this to be the go-to site for CL news ... and it will be, if you'll help us.

Thanks for visiting, please follow us, visit regularly, and, by all means -- when you have news to share -- let us help you get the word out!

Okay, then. Let's do this!

Blessings and prayers,
